Housing Assistance
The Charlottesville Police Foundation (CPF) provides officers and their families housing assistance by providing $20,000 of a down payment and settlement assistance and discounts on transaction fees to make home ownership in Charlottesville more realistic for CPD Officers.
Life Insurance
Basic Life Insurance is provided on behalf of employees, at no cost.
In the event of your death, your beneficiary will receive two times your salary up to a $500,000 maximum. The basic life insurance benefit also includes coverage for accidental death and dismemberment, which matches the life amount.
Voluntary Supplemental Group Term Life Insurance
Employee coverage can be purchased in increments of $10,000 up to a maximum of $500,000. As a new hire, you are able to purchase supplemental life insurance up to $300,000 without proof of good health. If you do not enroll when first eligible, you must provide proof of good health by submitting a form for "Evidence of Insurability" and wait for approval from the insurance carrier.
Spouse coverage is offered in $10,000 increments up to a maximum of $250,000. Evidence of Insurability will be required. Spouse life coverage cannot exceed 100% of the employee's Basic and Supplemental Life coverage (as applicable).
Dependent child (ren) up to age 26 benefit; Option of $10,000/$15,000/$20,000.
Supplemental AD&D is available for employee and employee plus family.
