Pay Scale
Officers with sworn law enforcement experience at an agency of 70 or more sworn officers will be placed on the pay scale by totaling their qualifying years of service at the previous agency and subtracting 1 year.
Officers with sworn law enforcement experience at an agency of 69 or fewer sworn officers will be placed on the pay scale by totaling their qualifying years of service at the previous agency and multiplying by 0.5.

OUT OF STATE LATERAL PROGRAM
Virgina’s out of state lateral program is an expedited program for out of state officers to obtain a Virginia DCJS Law Enforcement Certification.
Candidate Eligibility Requirements
Three years continuous law enforcement experience
Currently employed by a law enforcement agency or separated for no more than 24 months
In good standing with current/previous agency
Academy Training
Six weeks of classroom, firearms, driving, and defensive tactics instruction.
Testing Standards
70% Minimum Firearms Proficiency
Graded Examinations
Timed MEVO Driving Courses
